What is answer engine optimization for health brands?
A direct-answer primer on how AI search decides which clinics to cite, and what that changes for medical brands.
Editorial studio · Healthspan economy
Healthspan Media is an editorial studio building AI-search authority for the global healthspan economy: longevity clinics, preventive medicine practices, women’s health platforms, and integrative health companies that need to be the source AI cites, not the brand AI ignores.

We audited how twenty-five leading longevity clinics surface across Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, ChatGPT and Claude, fifty priority queries run as two hundred query-platform observations. The findings map who AI search has already chosen as the category default, and which clinics it cannot see at all.
What we do
We begin with a per-clinic AI visibility audit. We map where you surface across the four major AI engines, where citation share is being lost, and which reproducible patterns from our research you can realistically build toward. It is a clear-eyed read of where you stand and what is within reach.
From there, we do the editorial and structural work that earns citations rather than buys placement: the self-published authority content at the question phrasings prospective patients actually use, the schema and semantic structure that make your pages extractable, and the answer-engine optimization that turns research into visibility. We are an editorial studio, not a full-service agency, and the work reflects that focus.
Why this matters
What is answer engine optimization (AEO)?
Answer engine optimization is the practice of structuring published content so that AI search systems, including Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, ChatGPT and Claude, cite it directly when answering a question. Traditional SEO optimizes for a ranked list of links a person clicks. AEO optimizes to be the source quoted inside the answer itself.
Why does AI search visibility matter for health brands?
A growing share of prospective patients research clinics by asking an AI assistant rather than scrolling a results page. A clinic that is not cited in those answers is effectively absent from the conversation, regardless of its reputation or pricing. Citation share compounds, so the positions established now are difficult for later entrants to reach.
